The need to harness the support of the community towards the rehabilitation and re-integration of offenders is clearly encapsulated in Prisons' vision statement. The community can play a big role in helping the offenders to be responsible citizens. Prisons engage volunteers in the provision of prison-based programmes and assisting the inmates' integration back into society.
